I've been thinking of adding an extra 500GB harddrive sometime next month, I'm curious as to how it's done. I know it's easier to set up than a normal ATA harddrive, but would I need to monkey with the BIOS and whatnot for Windows to see it? Is it just a "Plug and play" sort of thing, or would it require some BIOS related tweaking?
It's only gonna be an extra harddrive for extra storage, not for my windows install. So if that helps any... |

just need to plug it in and go...if you only have one drive now, put it in sata #2 plug and the power plug...then vista should pick it up , no need to touch the bios
you will the need to go to the administrative tools...computer management ...then disk management and partition your drive and then format it..whatever you do..dont partition your c drive...lol. I am not sure but vista might walk you through it once you boot with the new drive...if not just follow the steps I mentioned. Once you do it once...its old hat. |
